New Tata Punch EV Launched with Rs. 50,000 Discount

Tata Motors, renowned for its safe cars, is offering significant discounts on its recently launched Punch EV. Launched in January 2024, customers can enjoy discounts of up to Rs 50,000 on the top-spec Punch EV Empowered +S LR AC fast charger (FC) variant.

Dealer sources disclosed that Tata dealerships received a larger inventory of the top-spec Empowered +S LR variant, equipped with a faster 7.2kW AC charger (AC FC), before the Punch EV's launch on January 17. To clear this inventory, dealerships are offering a flat Rs 20,000 discount along with insurance benefits and additional dealer discounts, totaling around Rs. 50,000 depending on unsold inventory. However, the maximum discount of Rs. 50,000 is only applicable to the top-of-the-line Punch EV Empowered +S LR AC FC variant.

Reports suggest most Tata showrooms have around five to ten units of the Punch EV Empowered +S LR AC FC variant available for sale with these discounts. The price of the top-spec model of Punch EV could drop to Rs. 15 lakhs from Rs. 15.49 lakhs after applying these discounts.

Even with discounts, the top-spec variant of Punch EV's main rival, Citroen eC3 Shine Dual Tone Vibe, remains Rs 1.5 lakh more affordable, priced at Rs. 13.49 lakhs ex-showroom.

The Punch EV Empowered +S LR AC FC variant features a larger 35kWh battery offering an ARAI-rated range of 421km and a more powerful 122hp motor. It also includes premium features such as electronic parking brake, hill-descent control, sunroof, ambient lighting, leatherette seats, ventilated front seats, and dual 10.25-inch displays.

The Punch EV also offers a smaller 25 kWh battery pack paired with an 80 bhp electric motor with a claimed ARAI driving range of around 315 kilometres. These figures may vary depending on driving conditions.

Pricing of the Punch EV ranges from Rs. 10.99 lakhs to 15.49 lakhs ex-showroom, competing with cars like the MG Comet EV, Nexon EV, Tiago EV, Citroen EC3, and XUV 400 EV.

Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, all four disc brakes, electronic stability control (ESC), 360-degree camera, hill hold assist, and hill descent control. However, safety ratings for the Punch EV on its new platform are yet to be determined.

Discounts may vary by location and stock availability. Customers should check with local dealerships for exact figures and applicable benefits.
